Story Play at Masterful Scrapbook Design has been all about creative journaling ideas for scrapbook pages. I really enjoyed the assignments and these are some of my favorite pages this year. Since this edition is coming to an end, I thought I’d share my pages. (for more detailed info, grab a membership and listen to my in-depth interview and read my notes in the gorgeous, richly detailed e-book)
The Venn Diagram:
To me, it’s like multiple lists that shows a relationship or commonalty between them. I compared the symptoms of my husband and son’s diagnoses. I love how it tells their story, packs in so much info, but also cues you into the idea that are more than their struggles.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a technique of pulling back a visual “curtain” to allow the viewer to glimpse a scene. Perhaps it should be called “voyeur” or “creeper”. I used it to hash out my thoughts and feelings on family relationships and family disconnects… all loving, of course.

Remember the show Concentration? A rebus is where pictures stand in for words. String them together to say something meaningful on your pages. It’s a lot of fun! You’ll have to guess the title. Basically the page tells the story of a disastrous ice cream outing.

Six Word Memoirs:
My life story in six words. We discussed this on the DSG Podcast, actually. You don’t have to use six words to sum up 30 years like I did. You can do moments, events, or just random thoughts. It’s fun and compelling. I come from a family of creative people who only saw creativity as a hobby, not a career. I have managed to pull creativity to every job I’ve had and now making it the focus of my professional life. I’m a rebel.

The journaling ideas presented in Story Play go beyond these four things. There are more I’m excited to try! I have done another Venn Diagram page and I use repoussoir frequently. I was also thrilled to be showing off these techniques with other notable scrapbookers (*swoon*). Check out Story Play if you haven’t already! If you purchase a membership, you’ll be taking your scrapping to the next level and supporting the podcast, as Get It Scrapped is a sponsor of the podcast. It’s win, win.
